Sorry about not blogging lately. I’ve been ULTRA BUSY! To make up for all the blogging, here’s a SUPER ULTRA MEGA UPDATE!
First of all, you might notice ChapterThree’s new look and feel. You guys like it? That header image is dedicated to the folks that pitched in for my going-away gift (black 60GB iPod video). Can you guys spot the resemblance? Also, elyliu.com forwards to ChapterThree instead of ChapterTwo now.
Speaking of the iPod, I spent about 12 hours yesterday ripping every single CD I own into an MP3. All my songs are set up on the iPod now. Now I have…
- ~1400 songs
- ~dozen music videos (bought from iTunes)
- 14 episodes of Lost
- ~600 pictures
- ~30 video podcast about cars
- ~4GB of car videos (that still need to be converted to Apple format)
- ~2GB of random stuff backed up from my old work computer (mostly archived emails)
About my new job, let’s see… Here are some random thoughts about my new job in no particular order…
- There are less speed bumps in the ABC parking structure, but it’s about 1/2 mile to get to the bottom floor
- Having to use pac files to access the internet sucks…
- We have a kick-ass snack drawer. Bad, if you are trying to lose some weight.
- Free Starbucks rocks!
- The TV in your cube thing is nice. Now I won’t miss any Lakers games!
- I am starting to get tired of commisary food already…
- I got a tour of the prospect studios. We have a team over there that does video editing for ABC.com. I was able to check out the edit bays, server room (with Apple Xserve servers), and a few of the stages for TV shows. I am probably going to work with those guys to write some plugins for the new video workflow system we are installing.
- I spent most of my time ramping up on out systems. I feel so crippled right now.
Overall, everything is starting settle down and I am finally able to sleep again.
Hmmm, regarding workouts. Tuesday I received my new Kurt Kinetic bike trainer. Now I really have no excuse not to workout. I don’t even have to leave to house!
Wednesday morning I spent 45 minutes on the trainer. The trainer simulates riding on flat road pretty well. It’s a bit easier than normal roads because you don’t have the wind resistance. Also, without the wind, I was dripping wet after my 45 minute workout.
Yesterday, I had a good run…for the most part. I’ve stopped running for about 2 weeks now just so I don’t re-injure my ankle. Stupid of me to try to run 7 miles on my first run in 2 weeks. Everything was feeling pretty good up to the 4 mile mark. I didn’t even have to stop to rest at all. The only times I stopped was to wait for the lights. Here are my running stats…
- Total Time: 0h 47min 25s
- Distance: 4.1 mi
- Heart rate avg: 94% / 182 bpm
- Heart rate max: 98% / 190 bpm
- Calories (burned): 742 Kcal
- Speed avg: 5.2 mi/h
- Speed max: 7.3 mi/h
- Pace avg: 11min 32s/mi
- Pace max: 8min 13s/mi
Just as I was starting mile 5, my ankle started acting up again. Within .1 mile, I decided to stop running and walk back. Fortunately I was able to take a shortcut back home instead of having to walk 3 miles back. As I got closer to home, my IT band (not sure?) started to hurt as well. It’s probably from the partial limping. My entire left leg was pretty messed up by the time I got home. I was bored, so I recorded my walking stats as well…
- Total Time: 0h 25min 34s
- Distance: 1 mi
- Heart rate avg: 65% / 127 bpm
- Heart rate max: 79% / 153 bpm
- Calories (burned): 216 Kcal
- Speed avg: 2.4 mi/h
- Speed max: 3.4 mi/h
- Pace avg: 24min 38s/mi
- Pace max: 17min 39s/mi
Today, I am feeling much better. It was probably good that I didn’t run on my bum ankle for too far.
I guess I won’t be running too much in the near future. Next time, I am going to ease back into running.
In the mean time, I’ll be spending a lot more time on the trainer and in the pool then.
Ok, I just spent my last 16 waking hours (including yesterday) in front of my computer. I should to get up from the computer. I think I’ll go get on my trainer for a bit now. Peace out!
Nice update! I like the new theme.
